On the morning of Tuesday, Jan. 24, the National Weather Service at Newport/Morehead City reported that a strong cold front will impact Eastern North Carolina and the Outer Banks from the morning of Wednesday, Jan 25 through the afternoon of Thursday, Jan. 26. It is expected to bring intense gusty winds, as well as the threat for severe weather, with the primary threats including damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes.
There is an elevated risk of impacts along coastal North Carolina with damage to outdoor items possible, and hazardous driving conditions for high-profile vehicles. There is a Small Craft Advisory for the Albemarle, Croatan and Roanoke Sounds and all inland rivers.
