There’s a possibility of winter weather action late this week, with snow –

Most of this week looks fairly quiet on Michigan’s weather front. As we get toward the end of the work week we could have an accumulating snow.
While it doesn’t look like a major snowstorm, most modeling is showing a weather system here Friday into early Saturday. The most accurate model puts about the southern half of Lower Michigan in the accumulating snow area.
Here is the surface weather forecast from Tuesday into early Saturday.
Surface weather forecast from Tuesday morning to 1 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022
Tuesday night will have some light rain across central Lower Michigan. Thursday will have light snow across the U.P. Friday and Friday night is when we will watch for a possible accumulating snow across the southern half of Lower Michigan.
It’s too early to pin down exactly how much snow. I do like this model forecast since it looks reasonable with this type of weather system. I’d say a swath of two to four inches is the place to start, and warn you to watch as it evolves.
The total snowfall forecast from the ensemble mode of the European Model.
Temperatures will be rather mild prior to Friday’s potential snow. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be in the 40 degrees to 45 degrees range for afternoon temperatures. Friday and Saturday will ease down to high temperatures only in the mid-30s.
High temperature forecast each day from Tuesday to Saturday.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings will stay above freezing over southern Lower Michigan. By Saturday morning it will be quite a bit colder.
Low temperature forecast from Tuesday morning to Saturday morning.
It’s a quiet weather pattern in the first half of the week, and turning more wintry toward the weekend.
Next week looks like we will turn even more wintry, and we could be the track toward a white Christmas week.
