Weather: Worcester schools on 2-hour delay Tuesday – Worcester Telegram

Worcester schools will open two hours later than usual Tuesday, with officials citing road conditions as the reason for the delay.
The Worcester parking ban has been lifted.
Meantime, some school districts north of Worcester, including Wachusett and Ashburnham-Westminster, have called off classes for Tuesday. Others will have delays.

Plows cleared roads throughout the region into Monday evening after hours of heavy snow. The National Weather Service listed the following totals as of 6 a.m. Tuesday: Sterling 7.8 inches; Ashburnham 7.5; Princeton 7.2; Lunenburg 6; Fitchburg 5.9; Grafton 5.7; Westborough 5.5; Boylston, Hubbardston and Athol 5; Charlton 4.5; Worcester 4; and Shrewsbury and Auburn 3.3.
More snow is expected later in the week.
As of Tuesday morning, Hubbardston, Phillipston and other towns north of Worcester were experiencing widespread power outages. At 7:30 a.m., 84% of customers in Hubbardston were without electricity, according to the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency. The number was 78% in Phillipston.
The power outage has forced the closing of Wachusett Mountain. The ski area closed early Monday and is hoping to open Tuesday once electricity is restored.
